Jake Wenaus
Owner and President
With 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Jake’s unique skillset in the trades gives him the insight to be the bridge between the trades, building owners and his clients. Growing up in Saskatchewan, Jake’s grandfather was a down-to-earth, intelligent, who was his role model. Teaching him building skills, work ethic, welding and use of heavy equipment at an early age encouraged Jake to focus on a construction career. Gräscale is built around a solid team of trusted professionals who work in a variety of fields and come together to make Gräscale the leader it is today.
John Fisher
Operations Manager
John has been collaborating with Jake and Gräscale since 2017. He has an Honors BSc from McMaster University as well as an MSc from the University of Guelph. He brings a wealth of project management experience and extensive business experience having successfully owned, operated and sold an environmental data management company in Ontario. John’s main areas of focus at Gräscale are financial, administrative, cost estimating and project management.
Ryan Burgess
Site Supervisor
Originally from Calgary, Ryan has worked with Gräscale since 2016. He moved to Victoria to begin a carpentry apprenticeship and was certified as a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter in 2015. In the past few years, his focus has been on site supervision and sub-trade management. Ryan is experienced in custom residential renovations, additions, new builds, and finish carpentry. He also has experience working in both commercial and residential landscape construction and architectural concrete work.

Kathleen Laird
Office Manager/Marketing
Kathleen has been engaged in communications and marketing with Gräscale since 2020. She has a degree from UBC in Urban Geography and experience in planning, landscape design and communications. Originally from Toronto, Kathleen’s unique blend of experience has improved GDI’s visibility as construction management specialists.
